SCHOOL SAFETY
On Tuesday, September 27, 2021, a Lake Hamilton High School student was charged after a gun was found in his vehicle on campus.
The LHSD security team received an anonymous tip regarding the student being in possession of a handgun on campus. The student was immediately questioned and was found not to have the gun in his possession. After further investigation, the students’ vehicle was searched on campus and the weapon was found and secured without incident. All students and staff were unharmed during this situation.
The student is now facing criminal charges. Since the student is a juvenile, no further identifiable information will be released.
Student and staff safety is the number one priority of the LHSD. This situation was taken very seriously and the LHSD security team acted accordingly in this utilizing both the school system disciplinary recourse and the juvenile justice system.
Lake Hamilton encourages parents to speak with their children on the importance of speaking with a teacher or an administrator if a situation exists that could ever place him/her and others in danger. Only by working as a school community in partnership with parents, can we create and maintain the level of safety that we want for our children and that they certainly deserve.
