Lake Hamilton families, it’s almost time! 🐺💛 The 2026–2027 school year begins tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12, for students in grades 1–12. Our kindergarten students will have their first day on Thursday, August 13. We can’t wait to welcome our Wolves back and kick off an incredible new school year together!
As we get ready for a great first day, here are a few reminders to help everyone start the year smoothly:
☀️ 𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐑 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊 𝐌𝐀𝐘 𝐁𝐄 𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆, 𝐁𝐔𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐑 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐓 𝐈𝐒𝐍’𝐓!
Our buses are air conditioned; however, with a bus full of students, frequent stops, and doors opening throughout the route, buses may still feel warm in this August heat. We appreciate your understanding as our transportation team works to safely get students to and from school.
🚌 𝐁𝐔𝐒 𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒
Please have students at their bus stop 10–15 minutes early, especially during the first several days. Routes may run a little earlier or later than expected as drivers learn where students are getting on and off and everyone settles into the routine.
🚗 𝐂𝐀𝐑 𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒
Expect heavier-than-normal traffic around our campuses during the first few days and give yourself some extra time. Our teams will work hard to keep lines moving, but we will never sacrifice student safety or security for speed.

The first few days are exciting, busy, and an adjustment for everyone: students, families, teachers, administrators, and our transportation team. A little patience and grace go a long way!

Reminder: The Lake Hamilton School District will dismiss early on Thursday, May 21, and Friday, May 22, 2026, due to staff development meetings. Students in grades K–12 will be dismissed at 1:45 PM on both days. Pre-K students will follow their regular schedule.
Car riders will begin dismissal at 1:45 PM. Bus riders should expect to arrive home approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes earlier than usual. For example, if your child normally arrives home at 4:00 PM, they will arrive around 2:30 PM on May 21 and May 22.

Over the next two weeks, the LHSD Security Team will conduct lockdown drills at each school. These drills will not be held district-wide at the same time; instead, each building will have its own unannounced drill.
