Dear Lake Hamilton Families,
Like you, we are shocked and deeply saddened by the news of the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Texas on Tuesday. We share in the heartbreak we are all feeling for the families who have lost a loved one due to this senseless act of violence.
School should and must be a place where students feel completely safe and secure. As an added precaution, we are working with our district security team and local law enforcement officials to maintain and intensify our safety protocols even in these final days of the school year.
We know that children and teens will process this news in different ways. We have counselors available at each of our school buildings to assist students who may need some extra support. We strongly encourage any student needing to talk to someone to stop by their counseling office at any time.
Please be assured that school safety is the number one priority of the Lake Hamilton School District. In pursuit of this standard, we will be engaging in a comprehensive review of our facilities and our crisis plans over the summer. Additionally, we have partnered with a third-party school security company to evaluate our plans and facilities and then train all district employees in August.
