SCHOOL BOARD VACANCY INFORMATION

The Lake Hamilton School District Board of Directors has approved the process and timeline for filling a vacancy on the Board of Directors in Position 51.

Pursuant to Arkansas Code Annotated § 6-13-611, the District will accept applications from qualified individuals interested in being considered for appointment to the vacant position.

The individual appointed to Position 51 will serve a six-year term ending in March 2032.

Who May Apply?

An individual considered for appointment must be a qualified elector of the Lake Hamilton School District and meet any other qualifications required by Arkansas law.

How to Apply

Individuals interested in being considered must submit a complete application packet that includes:

  • Completed Application for Consideration for Appointment

  • Petition stating the applicant's intention to be considered for appointment and signed by at least 20 qualified electors who reside within the Lake Hamilton School District

  • Proof of residency, such as a current utility bill, voter registration record, lease/deed, or other District-approved documentation

  • Written responses to the four applicant questions included in the packet

Written responses must be 150 words or fewer per question.

All required materials must be submitted in person no later than 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the:

Lake Hamilton School District Office (205 Wolf Street, Pearcy, AR). The district office is open Monday - Friday (8:00 AM until 4:00 PM).

Vacancy Process Timeline

August 18, 2026

  • Vacancy notice and applicant forms are published and made available to the public.

September 25, 2026 – 3:00 p.m.

  • Deadline to submit the completed application, petition, proof of residency, and all required written responses to the Lake Hamilton District Office.

September 29, 2026

  • Applicants will be notified in writing whether their submission is complete.

October 2, 2026 – 9:00 a.m.

  • Deadline for applicants to correct any identified deficiencies or provide additional required documentation.

October 19, 2026 – 6:15 p.m.

  • The Lake Hamilton School District Board of Directors will consider qualified applicants and make an appointment during a public Board meeting at the Lake Hamilton District Office, 205 Wolf Street.

Each qualified applicant must appear in person and present to the Board to be considered for appointment. Each applicant will be allowed a maximum of five minutes for a presentation and will respond to questions from Board members.

Applicant Questions

As part of the application packet, applicants must provide written responses of no more than 150 words per question to the following:

  1. Why are you interested in serving on the Lake Hamilton School District Board of Directors, and what do you hope to contribute?

  2. What experience, skills, and perspective would you bring to the Board in support of students, staff, families, and the Lake Hamilton community?

  3. What do you believe are the most important responsibilities of a school board member?

  4. What do you believe are the most important opportunities and challenges facing the Lake Hamilton School District over the next several years?

Important Information for Applicants

Submission of an application does not guarantee consideration or appointment. Applicants must submit all required materials by the established deadlines and satisfy the requirements of the approved vacancy process.

Applicants must also appear in person at the October 19 public Board meeting and present to the Board. An applicant who does not appear and present at the meeting will not be considered for appointment.

The individual appointed by the Board will fill the vacancy in Position 51 for the term provided by Arkansas law.
