LeaAnn Ferrell, Lake Hamilton Intermediate School 4th grade teacher, was selected as the Teacher of the Year for the Intermediate School and the Lake Hamilton School District this past spring. She is now representing the Lake Hamilton School District in the Arkansas Teacher of the Year program.
Johnny Key, Commissioner of Education at the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, has announced that LeaAnn has been selected as one of the 12 regional finalists for the 2021 Arkansas Teacher of the Year. The Division of Elementary and Secondary Education received applications from many exceptional teachers this year throughout Arkansas. LeaAnn's application received the highest score in the Dawson Educational Cooperative. Being selected among the top 12 is a testament to the quality of her work and the depth of her education.
A special recognition event with Governor Asa Hutchingson will be held Friday, July 31, 2020, in the Governor's Mansion. During the ceremony, four regional finalists will be announced as the state semi-finalists.
