Our district recognizes that, for a small number of students, academic acceleration is appropriate. Academic acceleration at the lower levels is usually grade based and at upper levels content based. Requests for academic acceleration must be made to the building principal. After the request is made, a committee of educators, in conjunction with the requesting party, will make the decision on the appropriateness of the request. The requesting party will be notified of the committee’s decision in writing. Any appeal of the committee’s decision must me be made to the district’s Gifted and Talented Coordinator. In order to make a request for academic acceleration, please contact the building principal of the school that the student will attend.
