BOOK CLUB
3rd grade students read books as a team in Book Clubs. Book club members read aloud, discuss and take notes on what they learned from each chapter. Notes consist of answering questions about what they’ve read, taking notes on character traits and summarizing each chapter.

FRUIT OR VEGETABLE?
Miss Wilson's 3rd grade science classes have been learning about the life cycle of plants. Today the students were able to look at the inside of certain foods to determine if it was a scientific fruit or a vegetable. The results may surprise you!

WORD WORK
2nd grade students enjoyed word work instruction in their classroom this week. Reading with your child daily is so important to continue their literacy growth.

MAGIC E
Mrs. Glover's 2nd grade class created a “Magic E” wand to help them learn their new syllable pattern for word study this week. Tangible activities like this one really help students to connect with these skills in phonics.

WE'RE FLYING
Student in Mrs. Smeltzer's 2nd grade class read a book about how to make a paper airplane. Upon completing the book, they followed the steps to construct their own paper airplanes. After construction was complete, they tested the flight power of their airplanes.

A DAY OF PRAYER FOR ARKANSAS STUDENTS
Act 902 - An Act to Establish a Day of Prayer for Arkansas Students was passed by the 93rd General Assembly. Governor Hutchinson has declared the last Wednesday in September as “A Day of Prayer for Arkansas Students”. This year the day will be recognized on Wednesday, September 29th. Governor Hutchinson encourages all citizens of all faiths and backgrounds to voluntarily join in prayer for the success and safety of our students. ENGINEERING IN STEM LAB
Students learned about the engineering design process by constructing a flag pole in STEM Lab this past week. Students also practiced their cooperation and teamwork skills.

PLANT MYSTERY INVESTIGATION
Mrs. Weaver's 3rd grade classes learned about flowers this week. They explored many different aspects from what they do for the plant to how they work. They researched to answer the question, "Why do plants grow flowers?". (It's to attract pollinators!)

SYLLABLE CONSTRUCTION
Mrs. Duke's 2nd grade class constructed open and closed syllable houses to practice long and short vowels. Activities like this one help students to really visualize what is taking place with these syllable patterns.

GO GOLD ON FRIDAY
#GoGold for #WolfFanFriday tomorrow! The Wolves will host the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. in Wolf Stadium. Both schools have teamed up to "Go Gold" for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!
