STUDENT DIGITAL DAY TOMORROW The first Student Digital Day of the 2020-21 school year is Friday, September 18. Onsite students will not attend school onsite this day. Instead, they will complete virtual assignments from home. Attendance will be counted based on the completion of assignments. Teachers will be onsite during Student Digital Days and will communicate specific participation expectations with students. Lake Hamilton Virtual Academy students will complete a regular virtual school day on September 18. Why are student digital days part of the school calendar this year? In the event we have to move from onsite learning to virtual learning, student digital days will serve as a training tool for students, educators, and parents. Parents and students will be able to get a glimpse of what digital delivery should look like. Another purpose of these days is continued teacher learning. Our educators will continue to learn and practice features of the Learning Management Systems (Seesaw and Canvas), as well as blended and digital management techniques. Applications are still being accepted for internet hot spots for households within the district that do not have access to the internet at home. SOLVING MYSTERIES IN SCIENCE Third graders experimented to discover how flour, baking powder, and baking soda react to vinegar and to grape juice then they were given a mystery powder to identify. #LHWolfNation

LABOR DAY HOLIDAY All Lake Hamilton School District buildings and offices will be closed Monday, September 7, 2020, for the Labor Day Holiday. School will resume for all students and staff on Tuesday, September 8, 2020. #LHWolfNation

NO COST STUDENT MEALS This morning, the Arkansas Child Nutrition Unit announced that the USDA has extended the Seamless Summer Operation program through December 31, 2020, or until funding has been exhausted. This means that all students will be able to eat one school breakfast and one school lunch, per day, at no cost. This will begin on Thursday, September 3, 2020, during lunch. Any student wanting an extra breakfast, lunch, or à la carte item must purchase those separately. #LHWolfNation

WHAT WENT RIGHT Sometimes, we focus too much on the negative things and fail to recognize the positives. The media and social media outlets do not help much in this regard. Bad news is typically more likely to get published, broadcast, and shared. That said, let's see how many shares we can get from this positive news post! This past Friday ended the first week of school for Lake Hamilton School District students, and things ran amazingly well given the pandemic world we’re experiencing. VIRTUAL GUEST Mrs. Diggs class enjoyed listening to Ms. Tiffany from the Garland County Library read to them in a virtual visit today! The students were excited to have a visitor read to the class even though it was a virtual visit! #LHWolfNation

IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS All onsite and virtual students must have up to date immunizations. Tdap is required for all students 11 and older. Exceptions for any age are due. Kindergarten physicals and immunizations are also due. The meningitis vaccination is required for all 7th grade and 16 year old students. Parents must provide proof to the school nurse for all immunizations. If students have not received the required vaccinations, please consult a physician or the Garland County Health Unit (501-624-3394) for an appointment. Please communicate with your school nurse if you have an upcoming appointment or if you have any further questions. #LHWolfNation

PICTURE DAY IS THIS THURSDAY Thursday, September 3rd, is Picture Day at LHES. All students will have their picture made. This will be the photo used in the yearbook. Order forms should have been sent home. #LHWolfNation
