STAFF SHOUTOUT Each day, we will share a staff shoutout that's been received by the district. LHMS SOCIAL STUDIES LHMS students in Mrs. Hinze and Ms. Graveley's classes participated in a Reconstruction Era mixer yesterday. Students shared the different perspectives and life experiences of the historical characters they were portraying. History came alive as they became their characters! #LHWolfNation

LAKE HAMILTON HISTORY CLUB STUDENTS COMPETE IN NATIONAL HISTORY DAY REGIONAL COMPETITION. Lake Hamilton History Club students competed in their second National History Day regional competition last week. After months of research and hard work, students submitted their projects virtually for this year’s Regional competition. 8th graders Kynli Wheeler, Easton Smith, and Jake Spruill created a documentary about the Gutenberg Press and its role in the Protestant Reformation. 8th graders Aliyah Mairs and Claire Slaughter choreographed a performance about contemporary dance, and the effect it had on social changes. 8th graders Lillian Halter created a documentary that explores the psychology behind Hitler’s speeches, and his popularity in Germany before the war. 7th graders Mollie Margaret Gidcomb and Haddie Heard designed a unique exhibit titled. “Practical Threads: Expressing Women Empowerment Through Fashion.” 7th grader Abigail Cousins wrote a historical research paper about Amelia Bloomer’s newspaper publication and the role it played during the women’s suffrage movement. 8th graders Kaitlin Guthrie and Gabby Gilliam designed an exhibit board to showcase Anne Frank’s diary. 7th grader Krystiana Walker’s documentary covered Hamilton and Burr’s infamous duel. 7th grader Johnny Ward focused his research on the secret network and communication of the Underground Railroad (documentary). Club sponsor Ms. Graveley is very proud of these students; they met the challenges of this year’s competition without a grimace or a complaint! Three students placed at Regionals and received invitations to compete in the NHD State Competition. Aliyah Mairs and Claire Slaughter won first place for their performance and Lillian Halter’s documentary won third place. Congratulations to our young historians!! This year’s NHD State competition will be held virtually on April 25, 2021. History Club would like to thank LHMS media specialist Mrs. Dutton for her assistance. FOR THE BIRDS Lake Hamilton Middle School students in Stacey Dickson's classes recently made bird feeders out of toilet paper rolls, peanut butter, and bird seed. The students hung the feeders outside of their classroom so they could watch and spot all of the different birds that visit each day through the window! #LHWolfNation

DEADLINE TO REGISTER: MARCH 12 The Lake Hamilton School District will provide no-cost bulk meals for children 18 years and younger during Spring Break via drive-through pick up. In order to prepare the appropriate number of bulk meals, registration is required​ (http://lhsd.info/Spring-Break-Bulk-Meal-Registration) Bulk meal drive through pick up will take place on Friday, March 19, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. behind the high school cafeteria. 7 breakfasts and 7 lunches will be provided for each child that is 18 years or younger in the household. The registration deadline for the Spring Break bulk meals is Friday, March 12. #LHWolfNation

WOLF HEALTH CLINIC OPENS MONDAY The Lake Hamilton Wolf Health Clinic will open on Monday, March 8, 2021, for Lake Hamilton students and staff. COVID-19 UPDATE Last week, Governor Hutchinson announced that all public health directives (with the exception of the mask mandate) are changing to public health guidance. While a directive is a mandate, the Governor said that guidance is a strong recommendation. Governor Hutchinson will reassess the state's progress in the COVID-19 pandemic as we approach March 31. School districts have been given the authority to continue requiring students, staff, and visitors to abide by Arkansas Department of Health guidance, which includes wearing masks and social distancing. At this time, nothing has changed for staff, students, or visitors to schools/events at Lake Hamilton. The Lake Hamilton School District believes the reason we have made over 115 days of onsite instruction is by following and adhering to Arkansas Department of Health guidelines. Even though the directives (with the exception of the mask mandate) have been changed to guidelines, the district is still required to follow the quarantine and contact tracing guidelines. All staff, students, and visitors on campus will be required to continue wearing masks and social distancing until further notice. #LHWolfNation
