FOOD DRIVE
The Lake Hamilton School District's food drive will be held November 1 - 5, 2021. Each grade has been assigned a food item that can be brought to school during the week. Did you know the district supplies 239 students with food backpacks each Friday so the students will have something to eat over the weekend? The district also provides 50 - 55 food boxes to Lake Hamilton families each month. The Lake Hamilton Parent Center is currently in need of food for these two services. Please consider donating this week!
Pre-K and Kindergarten: Granola Bars or Breakfast Bars
1st Grade: Mac & Cheese (Boxes or Individual Serving Size)
2nd Grade: Cereal (Large Boxes)
3rd Grade: Oatmeal (Individual Packets)
4th Grade: Peanut Butter or Jelly
5th Grade: Canned Vegetables or Instant Potatoes
6th Grade: Canned Soup or Packaged Soup Mixes
7th Grade: Rice or Hamburger Helper
8th Grade: Canned Meat (Vienna Sausage, Tuna, Chicken, etc.)
9th Grade: Crackers (Saltine, Ritz, Peanut Butter, etc.)
High School, New Horizons, & PBS: Pasta or Pasta Sauce
Central Office or Other Staff: Meals in a Can (Chef Boyardee, Stew, Chili, etc.)
*Please check for an expiration date before sending food items to school.

PERSONAL SPACE
LHPS is using the Guide for Life Curriculum this year to learn about the importance of social and emotional wellness. This month, first grade students are learning about the importance of personal space. In Mrs. Jordan's PE class, they are reading "Personal Space Camp" and "Through with the Zoo" and doing activities with hula hoops to demonstrate what personal space looks like.

RIBBON WAND EXPLORATION
Students in P.E. classes this week are using ribbon wand and manipulatives to work on spatial awareness and limitation of movement.

Ribbon Wand Exploration and Clean Your Room lessons in P. E. this week. Students are working on spatial awareness, imitation of movement in response to rhythm, throwing and using manipulatives.

RETTMANN'S WRITERS
Ms. Rettmann’s kindergarten class worked on writing today. They reviewed the roles of an author and an illustrator. Students then wrote a sentence about spiders, and illustrated their story.

THE WEDDING OF "Q" AND "U"
Mrs. Thornton’s first grade class has been learning about the spelling rule for the letters Q and U. Today her class wore fancy clothes to attend the wedding of Q and U, because they belong together in words! They celebrated with a read aloud, photo booth, cake and punch, dancing, and crafts!

PALEONTOLOGIST FOR A DAY
First Grade students have been learning what a Paleontologist is and what they do. They got the chance to be a Paleontologist for a day and dig for dinosaur fossils. They identified what kind of dinosaur they discovered and wrote about it.
