6-12TH GRADE PERSONAL DEVICE OPTION Over the past few years, student use of personal electronic devices, such as Chromebooks, in the classroom has increased. Each year, the district receives requests from students and parents on wanting to use a students' personal device instead of the school-issued Chromebook in class. In the past, it has been a district policy that only school-issued devices were allowed to connect to the school network and be used in the classroom. The Lake Hamilton School District has now set up a new network that will allow a students' personal device to connect to the network. Any student in the 6 - 12th grade that would like to use their personal laptop computer instead of a school-issued Chromebook may do so as long as they complete the following steps: 1. The student must return their school-issued Chromebook and charging cord to the school. 2. The student must bring their personal electronic device to the media center to be registered for use on the school network. 3. Once registered, the student will be provided a password for the “Student Device” network. 4. After a student is connected to the “Student Device” network, they should visit the school website homepage (lhwolves.net), under the “Parents & Students” tab, and click on “Clever Login” 5. Students will enter their student (firstname.lastname@lhwolves.net) email address and password and will then have access to the school network to complete assignments throughout the day. #LHWolfNation

NO COST STUDENT MEALS This morning, the Arkansas Child Nutrition Unit announced that the USDA has extended the Seamless Summer Operation program through December 31, 2020, or until funding has been exhausted. This means that all students will be able to eat one school breakfast and one school lunch, per day, at no cost. This will begin on Thursday, September 3, 2020, during lunch. Any student wanting an extra breakfast, lunch, or Ă  la carte item must purchase those separately. #LHWolfNation

WHAT WENT RIGHT Sometimes, we focus too much on the negative things and fail to recognize the positives. The media and social media outlets do not help much in this regard. Bad news is typically more likely to get published, broadcast, and shared. That said, let's see how many shares we can get from this positive news post! This past Friday ended the first week of school for Lake Hamilton School District students, and things ran amazingly well given the pandemic world we’re experiencing. There is no doubt that almost every student, parent, and school employee had something go wrong throughout the week. Now, what about the other side of the story? What went right? Click the link below to read about all of the positives from the first week of school: http://lhsd.info/What-Went-Right #LHWolfNation

DUKE TIP AWARD Seventh grade students who score in the 95th percentile or above on state or national testing have the opportunity to join the Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP). After joining TIP, students have the opportunity, through Duke TIP, to participate in monthly enrichment activities, academic contests, advocacy tools, above-grade-level testing opportunities (additional fees apply), and advanced online courses and residential programs (additional fees apply). The following Lake Hamilton students took advantage of above-grade-level testing by taking the ACT this past spring, while in seventh grade, and received certificates from Duke TIP: Payton Bump, Coti Dorrell, Bella Dozier, Kaitlin Guthrie, William Murders, Arabella Norton, Easton Smith, and Jacob Wright. In addition, the following four students received trophies for their ACT scores and will be invited to the Duke TIP State Recognition Ceremony to be held in the spring of 2021: Payton Bump (not pictured), Kaitlin Guthrie, William Murders, Easton Smith. Congratulations! #LHWolfNation
