STUDENT SOCIAL MEDIA TEAM APPLICATIONS
Applications are now being accepted for the student social media team for current 8 - 12th-grade students {https://lhsd.info/Social-Media-Team-App}.
Student social media team members will work directly with the LHSD Director of Communications to produce photos and content for publication on school social media pages. Interested students should submit their application on or before Friday, January 14, 2022. Email brian.bridges@lhwolves.net with questions or for more information.

THANKSGIVING BREAK
The LHSD is thankful for our wonderful students, staff, parents, and community members!
All LHSD buildings and offices will be closed November 22 - 26 for Thanksgiving Break. School will resume for students and staff on Monday, November 29.

STUDENTS AT WORK
Students in Mr. Dudley's classes spent last week applying the five senses to their reading to heighten text-to-self connections and to enhance comprehension. Classes were also competing in bell-ringer quizzes. 5th period won this competition and earned a reward. Their reward was to spend class creating a recipe for a trail mix and constructing an essay to detail how a reader might experience the five senses when reading their recipes. Of course, that was followed by enjoying their trail mix creations!

LHJH | TEACHER AWARD
The Arkansas Education Association recently awarded Lake Hamilton Junior High Computer Science Teacher, Ashley Kincannon, their AEA Teacher of the Year Award. The AEA Teacher of the Year Award recognizes, rewards, and promotes excellence in teaching and advocacy for the association. #LHWolfNation
LHJH ~ BOOK CLUB
Students wrapped up their last meeting during Wolf Time today for the book, Truly Devious. They had a book discussion and played book bingo for prizes. Mrs. Aitken also discussed the next book club that is coming up.

FOOD DRIVE
The Lake Hamilton School District's food drive will be held November 1 - 5, 2021. Each grade has been assigned a food item that can be brought to school during the week. Did you know the district supplies 239 students with food backpacks each Friday so the students will have something to eat over the weekend? The district also provides 50 - 55 food boxes to Lake Hamilton families each month. The Lake Hamilton Parent Center is currently in need of food for these two services. Please consider donating this week!

1st Grade: Mac & Cheese (Boxes or Individual Serving Size)
2nd Grade: Cereal (Large Boxes)
3rd Grade: Oatmeal (Individual Packets)

High School, New Horizons, & PBS: Pasta or Pasta Sauce
Central Office or Other Staff: Meals in a Can (Chef Boyardee, Stew, Chili, etc.)

STUDENT OF THE MONTH
Congratulations to the LHJH students of the month! These students were recognized by their teachers for their outstanding work, dedication and achievement for the month of October.

QUIZ BOWL
The LHJH Quiz Bowl team went 6-0 yesterday and won the Centerpoint Invitational Quiz Bowl Tournament. Easton Smith, the team captain, was the high-point player for Lake Hamilton.

CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION EXPLORATION
All 8th grade students participated in a CTE Exploration on Tuesday, October 5th. Each group rotated to eleven different Career and Technical classrooms. The students learned about technical skills, certifications, work based learning opportunities, competitions, and career opportunities embedded within each of the Lake Hamilton CTE programs. 8th grade students collected information from each program area that they visited and then there was a prize drawing based on the information they were asked to collect at each stop. The following students earned prizes from actively participating in the CTE Exploration. Mackenzie Ruffin won a Chic-Fila gift card, Mollie Gidcomb won membership dues for FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) and
Emma Favorite won membership dues for FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America).
