
FOOD DRIVE
The Lake Hamilton School District's food drive will be held November 1 - 5, 2021. Each grade has been assigned a food item that can be brought to school during the week. Did you know the district supplies 239 students with food backpacks each Friday so the students will have something to eat over the weekend? The district also provides 50 - 55 food boxes to Lake Hamilton families each month. The Lake Hamilton Parent Center is currently in need of food for these two services. Please consider donating this week!
Pre-K and Kindergarten: Granola Bars or Breakfast Bars
1st Grade: Mac & Cheese (Boxes or Individual Serving Size)
2nd Grade: Cereal (Large Boxes)
3rd Grade: Oatmeal (Individual Packets)
4th Grade: Peanut Butter or Jelly
5th Grade: Canned Vegetables or Instant Potatoes
6th Grade: Canned Soup or Packaged Soup Mixes
7th Grade: Rice or Hamburger Helper
8th Grade: Canned Meat (Vienna Sausage, Tuna, Chicken, etc.)
9th Grade: Crackers (Saltine, Ritz, Peanut Butter, etc.)
High School, New Horizons, & PBS: Pasta or Pasta Sauce
Central Office or Other Staff: Meals in a Can (Chef Boyardee, Stew, Chili, etc.)
*Please check for an expiration date before sending food items to school.

LHHS QUIZ BOWL
The LHHS Quiz Bowl team went 5-1 at the Centerpoint Invitational Tournament, finishing behind reigning 6A champion Russellville with one fewer answered question in the final game, to earn 2nd place for the day. Wesley Bonner, team captain, was the high-point player for Lake Hamilton.

LHHS GIFTED AND TALENTED STUDENTS

Lake Hamilton High School Unified Golf participated in the Area 10 tournament on October 19 at Longhills Country Club in Benton. Partners and Athletes paired up to compete in individual skills.

Congratulations to the Sr. High Boys and Girls Cross Country teams on winning the 5A South Conference Championship in both of their divisions yesterday. If you see one of these students please congratulate them.

LHHS BOOK CLUB
High school book club members met to discuss Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson. Students used their observation skills to discuss crime scene details in the beginning of the book and investigate what they think will happen next.

LHHS SELF CONTAINED CLASS FIELD TRIP TO GARVAN GARDENS
The Self Contained classes had a Scavenger Hunt & Picnic at Garvan Gardens. They explored the new fall decorations, the fall mums and all the preparations for the holiday season.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE HIGH SCHOOL BAND!
The band hosted Region 2 Marching Assessment at Wolf Stadium last night. Bands from around our area were evaluated by a panel of state adjudicators.
Lake Hamilton earned 1st division ratings from all judges for the 24th consecutive year. The Power Band qualified for 6A State Marching Contest on November 2nd at War Memorial Stadium.

8th GRADE CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION EXPLORATION
All 8th grade students participated in a CTE Exploration on Tuesday, October 5th. Each group rotated to eleven different Career and Technical classrooms. Each session was led by high school students in that program area. 8th grade students learned about technical skills, certifications, work based learning opportunities, competitions, and career opportunities embedded within each of the Lake Hamilton CTE programs. The sessions consisted of:
Agriculture Science and Technology
A/V Tech and Film
Business and Marketing
Culinary Arts/Food Production
Human and Social Services- Child Care Guidance
Computer Science
Construction Technology
EAST and Photography
JROTC
Sports Medicine
This career exploration opportunity will help students identify which CTE program of study will best fit their future college and career plans. CTE programs at Lake Hamilton equip students with academic and technical skills and serve as a transition from high school to college and career.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE LAKE HAMILTON POWER BAND OF ARKANSAS!
This past Saturday, Lake Hamilton competed with 20 bands from both Arkansas and Texas at the 10th annual Championship at the Rock, held at War Memorial Stadium.
In preliminary competition, Lake Hamilton earned Outstanding Color Guard in Class A, Outstanding Musical Performance in Class A, Outstanding General Effect in Class A, and placed 1st in Class A.
During finals competition, Lake Hamilton earned Outstanding Visual Performance, Outstanding Musical Performance, and Outstanding General Effect, as well as the high color guard score of the day.
Lake Hamilton was crowned the Grand Champion for the 10th consecutive year.
Thank you to our Lake Hamilton family for the support our students and program receive, it is unparalleled! We would also like to say a special thank you to our team of parent volunteers who feed the band and work with our props! You all truly went above and beyond to help ensure our students' success this weekend.

ALL-REGION HONOR CHOIR
Lake Hamilton Choir Students competed individually against hundreds of students from southern Arkansas for a spot in the All-Region Honor Choir. Over 30 schools and 1500 students auditioned on prepared pieces of music and selected through a blind-judging process for a chance to participate in the honor choir. 69 Lake Hamilton Junior/Senior High students competed with 43 students selected. If you see these students, please congratulate them!

Kendall, nominated by Ms. Field, is an outstanding helper in the library. She is dependable and very responsible. She displays a respectful and positive attitude.
Ryan, nominated by Ms. Holden, is always reliable and dedicated. He works hard and is always on task. He received a higher score by mistake, and he informed the teacher of their error demonstrating that honesty is very important for him.
