DONUTS FOR GOALS
Students in Ms. Moore's kindergarten class were rewarded with a donut treat after ALL students met their reading testing goal! Congratulations!

LEARNING TO TYPE
Primary school students are beginning to learn keyboarding in Computer Lab. First graders are learning about proper finger placement and the functions of other keys. Kindergarteners are learning to recognize the letters on a keyboard and where to find them.

READING FLUENCY
Students in Ms. Carrouth's first grade class use several fun activities to practice their reading skills and build fluency.

STICKER SOUNDS
In small group work, students in Ms. Avery's kindergarten class are working on beginning sounds and labeling full words. They love getting stickers, so they used them to practice the skill by writing the beginning sound of the sticker they chose. Some groups extended the skill by sounding out the entire word!

Pre-K students in Ms. Ashley and Ms. Shauna's class are learning in their interest centers.

Mrs. Nash's kindergarten class practiced solving their addition facts by building towers.

PHONICS TOOLS
Students in Ms. Jordan's kindergarten class are using items from their phonics toolboxes to help them sound out words. They love using their car to drive past each sound in the word!

HEART WORDS
When Primary School students come across a word that is not spelled as it sounds, they refer to it as a "heart word" because they can not sound it out and must know it by heart when they see it. These students in Ms. Wornick's first-grade class just added a heart to their sight word list for knowing their second-semester words by heart.

S.T.E.M. SNOWMAN
Students in Ms. Kight's first-grade class did a STEM activity to see who could build the tallest snowman using 3 marshmallows and 4 toothpicks. Then they measured it with cubes.

COUNTING DICE DOTS
Ms. Jordan's kindergarten class is practicing adding by playing fun math games. Partners rolled dice and made an equation to match their dice rolls.

CUB CLUB AND ALPHA PACK
Congratulations to our LHPS December Cub Club and Alpha Pack. These students were selected by their teacher based on outstanding character and doing all things "The Wolf Way."

ATTENDANCE INCENTIVE
In an effort to focus on attendance, LHPS will be starting classroom incentives to promote being at school and being on time. When a class has all students present and on time (by 8:00) they will earn a wolf tag to put on their door. When they earn a certain number of wolves, the class will earn a reward.
