STAFF SHOUTOUT
Each day, we will share a staff shoutout that's been received by the district. Each staff member that receives a staff shoutout submission receives a "staff shoutout card" with the message. You can submit a staff shoutout by clicking this link: https://lhsd.info/Staff-ShoutOuts
Today, the staff shoutout is to Debbie Key at the intermediate school:
"I would like to give a big shout out thank you to my daughter's 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Debbie Key. This has been a difficult year of change for all and my daughter Lexi's first year at Lake Hamilton. In addition, I've been diagnosed and battling a serious health condition, so the adjustment has not been easy for Lexi. But with all of that, we're blessed to have Debbie Key as her teacher because she has gone way above and beyond what any parent could ask, expect or hope for in the teaching and caring for of the children. I know that firsthand, and I just want to share with everyone how fortunate we are that she is a part of Lake Hamilton School District. It will not be covid-19 my family remembers most this year. It will be Mrs. Key. Thank you for your dedication! We love you!" - Angela Tindall (LHIS Parent)

VACCINE INTEREST SURVEY
Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson announced Tuesday that all Arkansans age 16 and above are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. The Lake Hamilton School District is looking to host a free, voluntary, on-site vaccination clinic for all parents of LHSD students and students age 16 and older. The District will use this survey (https://lhsd.info/Vaccine-Interest-Survey) to gauge how many of our parents and students (16 and older) would like to be vaccinated if an on-site option was scheduled.
Please fill out the survey if you and/or your student (16 or older) would be interested in getting the COVID-19 vaccine at an on-site clinic held at Lake Hamilton.
Please note: Any student that is 16 or 17 years of age must have a parent/guardian present in order to receive the vaccine. Students who are 18 years or older may receive the vaccine without a parent/guardian present.
This is not a registration form for the vaccine. This is an interest survey. The deadline to complete the interest survey is Monday, April 5, 2021. Depending on the response, the District will work to schedule an on-site clinic for those that are interested in the very near future.

COVID SAFETY PROTOCOLS CONTINUE
Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson announced today that he has lifted the state's mask mandate.
At the March school board meeting, the possibility of this happening was discussed. For many reasons, it was recommended to continue all COVID-19 safety precautions through the end of the school year. The Lake Hamilton School District Board of Education will consider an official mask policy during the April board meeting. Until that time, the Lake Hamilton School District will continue its current practice of requiring teachers, students, and visitors to wear masks in all schools and district facilities. Social distancing will also be continued.
Our COVID-19 health and safety protocols, including the mask mandate, have allowed us to keep our schools open. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released updated guidance stating proper mask-wearing may now prevent individuals from being identified as close contacts in K-12 schools that have implemented a mask mandate. This means that if both individuals at school – the person diagnosed with COVID-19 and the person exposed to the positive case – have masks on and are wearing them correctly, the individual exposed does not need to quarantine. Arkansas Department of Education Secretary, Johnny Key, announced today that Arkansas schools will follow the updated guidance released by the CDC. The updated guidance will have a significant impact on reducing the number of students who must quarantine and will be a serve as an additional incentive for proper mask-wearing.
With the end of the school year less than ten weeks away, the Lake Hamilton School District will continue focusing on educating our students while maintaining a safe teaching and learning environment.
It is our hope that #LHWolfNation supports our safety efforts in order to finish our school year strong.
