As September comes to a close and we step into October, our school year is now in full swing with both academics and activities. Students are settling into their routines, teachers are diving deeper into instruction, and our campus is buzzing with energy from the many events and opportunities taking place. October promises to be a busy and exciting month, and we are grateful for your continued support as we work together to help every student succeed.
Parents, as your student prepares for life after high school, please take advantage of the resources available on our counselor’s webpage. The scholarship page is updated often with both local and state opportunities, listed by due date, making it an excellent place to start when searching for financial support for post high school education or training. In addition, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens on October 1, 2025. Completing the FAFSA is a critical step in accessing federal, state, and college-based aid, including the Arkansas Academic Challenge (Lottery Scholarship). You can find links, forms, and step-by-step information on the counselor’s page to help guide you through this process. Visit the page from this link.
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on Tuesday, October 14, and Thursday, October 16, from 3:30–6:30 PM in your child’s teachers’ classrooms. These conferences provide an important opportunity to hear about your student’s progress, ask questions, and partner with teachers to support your child’s success. Enter through the front office and get your child’s progress report and visit any or all of their teachers. We hope you’ll make plans to attend—we look forward to seeing you there. Also we are out of school on October 17th.
We encourage all families to complete the Free and Reduced Lunch form online, even if you think you may not qualify. Filling out this form can provide additional benefits for your child and our school, such as reduced fees for tests, discounted internet services, and increased funding for student programs. Please know that we are a cashless school, so all students simply enter their lunch number in the cafeteria line. No one knows who is receiving assistance, ensuring privacy and dignity for every student.
We are excited to share that we have launched our Pack Partners program this school year, and we held our first training session this week. Pack Partners is designed to provide additional support and encouragement within our school community. Even at the high school level, this program can play a valuable role in helping both students and teachers by building connections, offering extra assistance, and creating a stronger sense of support across campus. We look forward to seeing the positive impact Pack Partners will make throughout the year. If you are able and can help we encourage you to try and be a part of this program.
Herff Jones will be on campus on Monday, October 20th to meet with students. Juniors will learn about ordering class rings, while seniors will receive important information about cap and gown orders for graduation along with invitations and other memorabilia you can order. This will be an information session only—no payments will be collected at this time. During the meeting, Rick Landcaster will explain available options, ordering details, and important deadlines.
Thank you for staying engaged and partnering with us as we keep academics and student opportunities at the center of our work. Please reach out if we can help you in any way.
