Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well. As we move forward into the school year, I want to take a moment to share some important updates and information with you. Thank you for your continued support and partnership in helping us create the best learning environment for our students.
PTO
The Lake Hamilton PTO is excited to announce our Spirit Sign Fundraiser! Families can purchase a 18”x24” spirit sign for $15 by scanning the QR code on the flyer, which links directly to our CheddarUp page for easy payment and information collection. Sales will run through Friday, September 19th. Once 200 signs have been sold, additional orders will be placed on a waitlist to allow time for reordering. If this fundraiser is successful, we look forward to offering sports-specific signs in the future. For questions, please contact us at LakeHamiltonPTO@gmail.com.
Concurrent Credit Information
Starting with the 2025–2026 school year, all concurrent credit courses will now be weighted on the 5.0 grading scale, the same way our Advanced Placement (AP) courses are weighted. This change is the result of legislation passed in the spring and is designed to ensure that students enrolled in college-level coursework receive consistent recognition for the rigor of those classes.
At Lake Hamilton High School, we are offering 13 concurrent credit courses this year through our partner National Park College. In addition, any classes taken directly through a college or university—whether on campus, online, or through another program—will also receive the 5.0 weighted grading scale.
One thing to think about is what if your child took a concurrent credit last school year? If your child did take one of these courses last year it is still scored on the 4 point grade scale. The new rules would not let us go back and weigh prior concurrent credit courses.
ACT
For the upcoming ACT test dates in October, April, and June, parents have the option to add the “My Answer Key” service when registering your child. This service costs an additional $32.00 and provides a copy of your child’s test responses, along with the test questions and correct answers. This is an excellent opportunity for students to receive direct feedback from ACT, helping them identify strengths and areas for improvement as they prepare for future testing opportunities.
NCCA Clearinghouse Info
Here is a step by step guide for you and your child for the NCCA Clearinghouse. If your child is being actively recruited to play at the college level, it is very important to stay current with the NCAA Eligibility Center (Clearinghouse) requirements. Keeping up with the necessary registrations, transcripts, and core course credits ensures that your child will remain eligible to compete at the collegiate level. We also encourage you to keep your child’s head coach informed throughout the recruiting process, as they can provide guidance, support, and communication with recruiters. Staying organized and proactive with both the NCAA Clearinghouse and your child’s coach will help keep doors open for future opportunities.
Grandparents Day for Seniors
We are excited to invite the grandparents of the Class of 2026 to join us for Grandparents Day on Friday, September 5th, at 9:30 a.m. Guests will check in through the front office, and signs will guide them to the cafeteria where the event will take place. The program will run from 9:30–10:15 a.m. If a student does not have grandparents who are able to attend, any special person who fills that role in their life is welcome to join us in celebrating our seniors. We look forward to a wonderful morning of fellowship and pictures for these important members of our school community.
As we come to the end of the first month of school, I want to take a moment to reflect on what a great start it has been to the year. Our students have settled into their routines, teachers are engaging classrooms with energy and purpose, and the excitement of a new school year is still very much alive throughout the building. The positive momentum we’ve seen so far is a direct reflection of the hard work and commitment from our staff, students, and families working together. Good times ahead for sure.
